Not aircraft, though American air power was overwhelming. Not even American infantry, though they fought well.
The weapon I feared most, the weapon that gave me nightmares then and sometimes still does today, was American artillery. The sudden, devastating fire that arrived without warning, the knowledge that you might die without ever seeing your enemy, killed by shells fired from guns kilometers away. This was true terror.
